It was dificult for me pic one picture, because, I could choose a famous one, or a musician one, or a film scene one. But, I think that have most valou a picture that I took, and this it was taked the last year in Valdivia.

Every year since I go to university, me and my classmates travel to the city of Valdivia, to participate in the Film Festival of that city perfermed. This event it's almost sacred for us, because it's the time when we forget all the responsabilities of our lifes and university (jajaja).

In the image appears three friends that I love so much. And the river thet they are looking is called Calle-Calle.

The days in that place are so peaceful, the air that you breath it's so clean, and the arquitecture it's also beautiful. You can walk for all the city and never get bored. And the food! It's delicious. They sell sandwichs in a pub called "Ultima Frontera". And if you want eat fish or food like that, you can go to the market in the creek.

Every time that I look this picture it remains me that moments, that we enjoy of watching movies all day (like 4 each day), or drinking beers in the river, or dancing in the casino of the city, even with some of our teachers.

I remember when that day, one of our teacher bought us like, I don't know, 50 beers in a pub?
To all my class. It was so funny. Or when in the night we saw Nicolas Lopez (director of Promedio Rojo) and we laught of him and his awful movie. Or how some louts wanted to fight against my two friends in that picture, so we have to face them. Or how this first year that I came, I have to do "dead dog" beacuse we don´t have money for the fuel, so with two of my friends in the picture have to run for the street at night (like how start the movie Trainspotting). That it's one of my favorites memories (ajajajaja).

At the end, the city is so great, that if the movies that we see are bad, we don't care. Because we have all the rest, and I will always continue taking pictures there.

The Strokes

The true is that write about my favorite band is the work more dificult to do, because I have many favorite ones, and decide for one only it's very hard.

I could talk about Nirvana and how Kurt Cobain blow my head off with his lyrics, and how I cry everytime thai I see his videos and documentaries; or how I pay more than $130.000 to see Mike Patton the last year with Faith No More and Zu; or how I love Cat Power and her alcoholism; or how I love every riff of Queens Of The Stone Age; or how I dance with the music of Animal Collective when they came to Chile and how this band revolutionized my concept of music (like also did Broken Social Scene).

But if a have to choose one, defenitly it could be The Strokes!
This band change mi way of feel the music, it isn't only just listen one song in the radio and recording in to a cassette (in that time), it's dancing his songs everywhere, it's sing it everywhere. It's listen all his lyrics and cry and laught with it. It's associate every song to a moment that you have once, a person, a boyfriend, a hug, a place, a trip, a nice day.

The Strokes (like Nirvana did once) change the music in this days. I in the year 2001 when they show us his first album "Is This It" the people turned crazy. The look of they always untidy, but handsomes, and a propossition of life like it was in the 70's, with riff and voices no so refined were a reference to the all new bands of garage rock or alternative rock that began to apear like The Vines, The Hives, Kings of Leon, etc.

The 2005 this band came to Chile, with Kings Of Leon for the SUE, I was in high school, and nobody in my group of friend like the band so, nobody want to join me, and as you can imagine I couldn't go. And that it's one of the few things that I regret about it in my hole life!!! I should going alone. Now I only wait that they relese his new album, and come back again.

Piece of Tecnology

My favorite piece of tecnology it's a thing that already have many years, about a 100 years. This is the fotographic camera.

First it was the daguerrotype, that give us a picture en almost 7 hours, using plaques of cooper. Then it came the paper plaques. And then the firts cameras as we usually know.

Why I like so much this intrument? Because captured moments, precious moments that I like remember always... It's not only just take a picture, it's more than that. It's create something with your view and give them live. It's see the light beyond your imagination.

If you want to, you cant give them movement. There is a technic called "stop motion" in the cinema, that is about put many, many fotograph together, in secuence acording the movement of the subject, many films of animacion or video clips are done with this form.

It's also fun develop the fotograph in a dark chamber, when you turn on the red light and see how the light burn the paper, and then put this paper in the chemical liquid for keep the figure. That is something that a few people know how it's feels.

My father is who teach me everything that I know about fotography. Since I was I little girl that I join him developing pictures. And i love it.

I hope that when I finish study cinema, can I also study fotography, and use both career to do what I like.

This is a video done using stop motion

Guernica

Pablo Picasso's "Guernica" is one of my favorite master piece. Painted in 1937, by this spanish artist, it was keeped in many museums (like The Museum of Moder Art of New York) before it came to Spain

This work is a symbol of the crimes against the spanish people by the power and abuse of the dictator Franco who rules the country in that time. But it was the Republic of Spain who pay the paint.

The colors are in black and white and some greys, and his size is about 3,50 x 7,80 meters. It's very large, and complicated to interpret. If you see it carefuly, you will see many action in the canvas. Like for example: a black bull, who according to Picasso represent the brutality and darkness. There is a mother with a dead child in her hands, who represent the city of Madrid in the hands of Franco (very similar with the Piedad). There is a horse too, a dead soldier, a woman in knees, a house burning in flames, etc.

This remarcable work respresent for me, all the chaos in the world (not only Spain) in that time, the horrible of war and destruction, and how there are some people who dares to say "stop".
Besides, the art and style of Picasso it's really the best of the last century.

Priests, pederasts and privilege

This world is falling apart. When it turns down so quickly?
Really, it makes me vomit thing about priest and adults that enjoy to corrup little children.
What kind of perverssion they have in their minds?? And how are they so selfish that they didn't care about their little victims.

The horrible of this, is that the most of the time this kind of crimes is also covered by very important people, people who has power. And they forget the rights of our kids. And someother allow that.
Many movies have tried to represent and acuse this acts, films like "doubt", or "Mistic River" That put us in a word beyond our imagination, all this crimes actually happen, and meanwhile, nobody does anything to punish this disgusting kin d of men.

Charlyn Marchall

Cat Power is the alias of this american singer/songwriter that I love, born in 1972. She dropped the high school and went to Ney York, where she found herself like an artist and started to work in his first albums, very undergroundly thanks to some friend in the music bussines (like the drummer of Sonic Youth). Then, after many publicated discs, she became alcoholic, and try to express her sadness and thoughts in her lyrics like in the song "Lived in Bars".
Owner of a beautiful and unic voice, she turned my life in backwards. She make me love the music beyond rock and jars, I really admire that woman. With eight records in her back, she became in a indie-country icon for me, and when I need inspiration I use to listen to her and her lovely songs. That's why I can't beleve untill now that I saw her here, in this country when she came to Chile in july of last year.
(this Picture was tooked for me that day)

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Well, the friday night of february 26th, I was with my friends in the Ex-Doghouse (that now is a Cultural Center). It`s ubicated in Balmaceda street with Bulnes, in the old neiberghood of Santiago.
It was around 3. 15, when I started the earth shaking, my friends don't believed me, but then, the movement was more strong, and the dog stearted to bark. Then the lights turn off, and I scared a little bit, because I listened the noise of broken stuff, but I couldn't saw anything.
When the movement ends, we keep drinking some beer until it was safe went out to the street.
Around 6am we went to a friend's house near, I started to see all the broken houses in darkness, in that moment I didn't know the damage of the city in general. I just could talk with my mom who called me very scared. Later, in my friend's house we turn on the tv, and saw in the news the caos in the city and in the country. I never knew that what I felt, it was a earthquake until that moment.
The next day, when I came home, I saw that my family it was allright, even my family in Concepción. And my mom told me that my exboyfriend, went to my house very scared about me in the night an hour after the earthquake, but I wasn't there.
